Cover Letter to agents
I am a 21 year-old South African actor living in London, writing to you in the hopes of securing representation from you. (For HH* Your agency is the first that caught my eye from even before I moved to London, and I would love nothing more than to be a part of your team. etc)
I've attached my headshot to this email. My showreel and resume can be found on my website at www.annaballantine.com
Having just had a main role in a pilot for a new TV series called "The Hidden Track", acted in a number of short independent films in London (including in one opposite Anthony Head and another opposite X-Men actor Gregg Lowe), as well as performed at various theatres in London, I have built up a good experience and understanding of what it is to be on a film set or to be in a theatre production. I have also written, acted in, and directed a few of my own short films, which has shown me the joys of taking a project from concept to fruition.
The first time I went to the cinema, I was very little and I remember feeling as if I had to hold onto my seat to avoid flying off of it and into the screen; I was so encompassed by its magic. Good film or theatre makes me feel good to be alive and can show such an insight into human nature that it makes me more interested in the people sitting around me. I want to be able to make other people feel that - I want to be a part of projects that evoke emotions, that burrow into and fuse with people's own stories, and that call for social change.
I know that a passionate, driven, and personable agent can help guide my career on an upward trajectory and help me to reach my full potential. Acting has fulfilled a part of my soul that no other art form has been able to and I firmly believe it is my vocation in life. I have the determination and the hunger and I want to give it everything I have, with your help.
I really look forward to hearing for you, and I hope we can set up a meeting soon.
